1. Canned roast beef
The required ingredients:
- A cup of Crisco
- A cup of water
- Salt and pepper
- A can of beef
- 1 ½ cups of flour
Put the beef in a bowl. Roll the beef chunks in the flour, one piece at a time.
Drop the pieces in hot Crisco. Take it out when it is brown. You can add more Crisco for gravy.
Add some flour to the pan and let it be brown. Add the broth and water to make the gravy. Add more water if the gravy is too thick.
This can be served with creamed potatoes, hot biscuits or fruit salad.
You can add a tablespoon of vinegar in water to make it tender.
2. The diner style slow cooker roast beef
The required ingredients:
- 3lb chuck roast beef
- 4 garlic cloves
- ¼ cup of red wine
- A medium sliced onion
- 2 cans of mushroom soup cream
- ½ cup of beef broth
- 2 packets of onion soup
Clean the water under cold water. Dry it with a paper towel and season it with ground pepper.
Heat the frying pan and add oil. Sear the meat for about 3 minutes. Take it from the pan and set it aside.
Put the sliced onion in the crockpot and sprinkle the garlic at the center. Add the roast beef at the center of the pot.
Add the mushroom soup cream, the onion mix, the broth, and the wine and mix them well to combine. Pour the mixture over the roast beef.
For about 5 hours, slow cook on a low heat setting.
You can serve with noodles, mashed potatoes or any of your favorite vegetables.
After serving, pour the gravy on top and enjoy!
3. The roast beef sandwiches
The required ingredients:
- 8 slices of provolone cheese
- A can of beef
- A cup of water
- A pound of thinly sliced roast beef
- 4 hoagie rolls, split
Preheat the oven up to 350 degrees F.
Place the hoagie rolls on the baking sheets while they are open.
Boil the beef in a saucepan with water over medium heat. This will give you a delicious broth.
Put the roast beef in the broth and warm it for about 3 minutes.
Add the meat on top of the open hoagie rolls. Add the cheese on top.
Put the sandwiches in the oven and bake for about 5 minutes. The cheese should melt.
You can serve the sandwiches with a bowl of warm broth.
4. The chop suey beef
The required ingredients:
- A teaspoon of sugar
- ½ lb. of lean beef
- A teaspoon of salt
- ¼ teaspoon of pepper
- A stalk of celery
- 4 teaspoons of cornstarch
- 2 chopped onions
- ¼ lb. mushrooms
- Oil
- 3 slices of crushed ginger
- ½ chopped cabbage
- A cup of bamboo shoots
- 2 chopped carrots
- 2 cups of cooked rice
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 7 ounces of canned bean
- A cup of water
- 2 teaspoons of soy sauce
Cut the beef into slices. Marinate the beef.
Sauté the onions and the celery in a little oil and set them aside.
Fry the mushrooms, carrots, bamboo, and the sprouts one by one for about a minute. Set them aside
Sauté the crushed ginger for about a minute. Add the cabbage and cook for one more minute.
Add the remaining vegetables and add the sugar and salt to taste.
Take the vegetables from the heat and set them aside.
Sauté the garlic in a little oil. Add the beef in the sautéed garlic and cook for about 2 minutes.
Mix the remaining ingredients and add the beef.
Cook the mixture until the cornstarch is clear.
On top of the vegetables, pour the beef.
Serve this chop suey over the cooked rice and enjoy!
5. The barbecue beef on buns
The required ingredients:
- 3 pounds of boneless roast beef chuck
- Water
- A medium chopped onion
- 1 ½ cups of ketchup
- ½ cup of celery, chopped
- ¼ cup of vinegar
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- ¼ cup of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of mustard
- ½ teaspoon of paprika
- 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire
- A teaspoon of chili powder
- ½ teaspoon of garlic salt
- Hamburger buns
- Few drops of hot pepper sauce
Put the onions, beef, and celery in the Dutch oven. Add water to cover the beef.
Boil the meat and reduce the heat. Simmer for about 3 hours while covered. Ensure that the meat is tender.
Take the beef and strain it. Keep the cooking liquid.
Shred the beef and place it back in the Dutch oven. Add the liquid that you strained from the beef and chill.
Skim the fat and discard it. Add the vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and the seasonings.
Simmer for about an hour, ensure that you stir occasionally. You can add more of the strained liquid if the mixture is too thick.
Serve the mixture on the hamburger buns and enjoy!
6. The beef stew stifado
The required ingredients:
- ¼ cup of olive oil
- 1 kg of stewing beef
- 1/3 cup of cognac
- ¾ cup of red wine
- 1.7 kgs of peeled baby shallot onions
- 1 bay leaf
- A pinch of nutmeg
- 3 allspice berries
- A large ripe tomato
- 3 tablespoons of red wine vinegar
- A teaspoon of tomato puree
- Ground pepper and salt
Heat some oil in the saucepan and sauté the meat. It should be brown on both sides. If the saucepan is small, you can sauté the meat in batches to ensure that the oil remains hot.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the meat from the oil. Put them on a platter and cover.
Chop the onions and sauté them in the hot oil. They should be soft and not brown.
Add the cognac, the vinegar, and the red wine. Cover and simmer for about 3 minutes.
Pour the meat with the juices in a saucepan. Add the puree, the chopped tomato, allspice berries, the bay leaf, and the nutmeg. Boil and reduce the heat to simmer the stifado for about 2 hours or less. Ensure that you don't leave it dry. You can add a cup of hot water and stir.
Season it well with pepper and salt to taste.
This can be served with grated cheese, boiled potatoes, or pasta. Enjoy!
7. The beef stroganoff
The required ingredients:
- 2 medium sliced onions
- 8 ounces of fresh sliced mushrooms
- 1 ½ pounds of beef steak
- 1 clove of garlic
- ¼ cup of margarine
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 1 ½ cup of flavored beef broth
- A teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ cups of sour cream
- ¼ cup of flour
- 3 cups of cooked egg noodles
Cut the beef into small slices of about 1 ½-inch strips.
Cook the onions, mushrooms, and garlic in a skillet using butter. Stir often until the onions are tender.
Remove them from the skillet and use it to cook the meat. It should be brown.
Add a cup of beef broth, the Worcestershire, and salt. Boil the beef over reduced heat. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
Add the remaining broth in the flour. Add it to the mixture.
Add the mixture with onions and boil as you stir for about a minute.
Lastly, add the sour cream and heat it but don't boil.
Serve the beef stroganoff over the noodles and enjoy!
